The Department
Our NWP farm is home to both a commercial and purebred cattle herd, as well as a sheep flock. The farm provides support for agricultural programming as well as research opportunities.
The Role
We are currently hiring two casual agricultural workers for our calving and lambing seasons from January 2024 to May 2024, working approximately 15–35 hours per week. Due to the nature of the position, shifts outside of normal business hours are required.
Our agricultural workers carry out general farm duties, including:
- calving and lambing, taking care of the animals,
- feeding, watering, and monitoring animals
- maintenance of facility,
- maintenance of equipment,
- fieldwork,
- other duties as required.
Wage: $27.37/hour as per AUPE Collective Agreement

JOB REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will need the following experience and skills to be successful in this role:
- Calving experience and general farm duties (lambing experience is not necessary)
- Feeding, watering & monitoring animals
- Comfortable working with large and smaller animals
- Ability to lift 25 kilograms
- Labor and maintenance experience
- Ability to work flexible schedules and independently
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work in unpredictable weather conditions
